PRINCESS ANNE, Md. – It was a weekend to remember for University of Maryland Eastern Shore senior sprinter Andre Walsh (St. Catherine, Jamaica) as he shattered two school records at the ECAC/IC4A Championships and qualified for the NCAA Championships in the 200m. His efforts helped him land Peninsula Regional Medical Center University of Maryland Eastern Shore Athlete of the Week honors for the week of March 4.

The senior helped the Hawks land a sixth-place overall finish at the even with 30 points. He placed first in 200m with a time of 20.88, which bested the previous mark he set last year at the 2012 version of the meet, a 20.89. The time was .02 faster than the second-place finisher and .03 off the record for the meet. He then went on to set a school record with a 6.76 in the 60m, good for third overall in the race.

He will compete in the NCAA Indoor Championship meet in Fayetteville, Ark., on March 8-9.
