PRINCESS ANNE, Md. - Seniors Andre Walsh (St. Catherine, Jamaica) and Lenora Guion-Firmin (La Trinite, Martinique) have been name the Peninsula Regional Medical Center University of Maryland Eastern Shore Athletes of the Week for the week of March 4. This is the fourth time this year that Walsh has been recognized with the award, which is the most of any UMES student-athlete in 2012-13. Guion-Firmin collects the distinction for the second time.

Walsh shattered two school records at the ECAC/IC4A Championship meet in Boston, Mass. He placed first in 200m with a time of 20.88, which bested the previous mark he set last year at the 2012 version of the meet, a 20.89. Walsh would also set a school record with a 6.76 in the 60m, good for third overall in the race. His time in the 200m should qualify him for the NCAA Indoor Track & Field Championships later this month in Arkansas.

Guion-Firmin was the top women's performer this week as she repeated as champion in the 400m at the ECAC/IC4A Championships meet in Boston, Mass. The senior finished the event in first with a time of 53.40. Guion-Firmin's time was .21 off what she achieved last year, but the Olympian rebounded from an early stumble to capture gold.
