NORFOLK, Virginia — Twelve Maryland Eastern Shore Hawks were acknowledged by the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) as part of their 2018 Indoor Track All-Academic Team, announced by the conference Wednesday.

“I want to felicitate our track & field student-athletes, who maintained a 3.0 or better grade point average during the 2016-17 academic year,” said MEAC Commissioner Dennis E. Thomas. “In addition to acknowledging the accomplishments of these student-athletes, I would also like to thank the institutional and athletic academic support staffs, faculty and coaches for their support in the success of their student-athletes.”

The twelve Hawks who made the list include sophomores Hector Cime (Parksley, Virginia), Chidera Egeonu (Newark, Delaware), Summer Fields (Baltimore, Maryland),  Sharon Jerop (Eldoret, Kenya), Amirah Jones (Suffolk, Virginia) and Neus Quinonero (Valencia, Spain). Junior Joshua Dacres (Yorktown Heights, New York) and seniors Regyn Davis-Young (Lanham, Maryland), Tanise Edwards (Philadelphia, Pennsylvania), Luan Gabriel (Roseau, Dominica), Lenneisha Gilbert (Miami, Florida), and Stanley Meli (Eldoret, Kenya) are also honored.


 

 

Sophomore, junior, and senior student-athletes from MEAC institutions who have attained a 3.0 or better cumulative grade point average, in addition to transfer student-athletes who have resided at the institution for at least one year, are eligible.

A total of 213 student-athletes from the MEAC’s 13 institutions were honored.

Maryland Eastern Shore will travel to the 2018 MEAC Indoor Track & Field Championships in Landover this weekend.
