PRINCESS ANNE, Md. --Geranda Williams earned two medals, gold and silver, in her respective events of the Collegiate New Balance meet Feb. 1-2. The University of Maryland Eastern Shore had 14 total top 10 finishes. Williams won the only gold medal of the weekend. She finished first in the long jump and second in the triple jump.

Williams had a jump of 5.55 meters in long jump, and a distance of 11.93 meters in the triple jump to medal in both events. Nancy Yao finished in eighth place for the Hawks, posting a distance of 10.36 meters in the triple jump.

Teammate Tavian Ruffin finished in fourth place for the Hawks in the high jump, with his best attempt being 1.85 meters. Denvil Ruan marked a 14.33-meter leap in the triple jump to finish 10th overall.

In the running events, Lenora Guion-Firmin and Emilie Ducados finished fourth in the 400-meter dash and 800-meter run, respectively. Guion-Firmin ran a time of 53.38 in the dash, while Ducados had a finishing time of 2:12.22.

Shantol Hemley finished the 1,000-meter with a bronze medal time of 2:59.53 for the Hawks.

Codjo Gbedo took sixth place in the 500-meter dash with a time of 1:07.21. Gayon Evans had a successful outing in the 60-meter dash, finishing in a time of 7.38 seconds. Javon Spencer took eighth in the same event (60m), posting a time of 7.01 seconds.



Petra Kubesova found success in both the one-mile run and 3,000-meter events. She finished in 4:58.01 to take sixth place in the mile, and ran a 9:52.26 for eighth place in the 3,000-meter run.

The men's 4x400-meter relay team finished eighth with a time of 3:19.22. Kraig Webb, Aaron Chatman, Marcus Wallace and Hackeem Harris represented the Hawks in the event.
