Women's Track Meet at Navy

The Lady Hawks compete at the Wesley Brown Invitational on January 30th.

2017 Indoor Track: Served as the Hawks’ hurdler during the season … placed sixth at the 2017 MEAC Championships with a time of 8.62 seconds … ranked 21st among ECAC competitors in the hurdles … earned two victories as a hurdler, included a time of 8.68 seconds at the Towson Tiger Invitational to exceed IC4A/ECAC Championship standards … earned a time of 8.80 seconds at ECAC’s.  

2017 Outdoor Track: Finished her Hawk career as a hurdler and long jumper … secured two top five finishes with times of 14.33 seconds and 14.35 seconds, both of which exceeded ECAC standards … topped out at 5.33 meters in the long jump.

2015 Cross Country: Ran twice during the fall ... topped out at 23:35.98 with a 23rd place finish at the UMES Lid Lifter. 

2016 Indoor Season: Broke the school record in the 60 meter hurdles with a time of 8.57 seconds and a 3rd place finish at the Scarlet & White in Boston ... was named the 2016 Women's Track Runner MVP for the Hawks during the campaign ... also set a PR for the 60 meter dash with a time of 7.83 seconds ... won hurldes events at Villanova and Navy's Wesley Brown Invitational, and placed fifth in a long jump event. 

2016 Outdoor Season: Reset her own school record with a time of 13.81 seconds and a fifth place finish at the MEAC Championship Preliminary ... took fifth in the MEAC finals in the 100 hurdles and earned two victories during the regular season ... set a new PR in the 200 meter dash with a time of 26.10 seconds ... participated twice in the long jump with a high distance of 5.36 meters ... took second in another long jump at Navy.

2014 Cross Country:
Earned a pair of top ten finishes at the Del State Invitational and Cappy Anderson Invitational ... finished with a time of 19:40.10, finishing in 7th place ... took 24th at the MEAC Championship with a time of 20:16.7.

2015 Indoor Season:
Finished with a time of 2:19.33 in the 800 meter run at the Boston Last Chance, coming in 13th ... registered a top ten at the Navy Invite with a time of 3:11.40, and earned a 7th place time of 5:36.70 at the Coach O Invite ... helped out in a pair of fourth place relay finishes, one in the 4x400 and one in the DMR.

2015 Outdoor Season:
Ran a 2:15.51 at the Morgan Legacy coming in 8th place ... was part of the 4x800 team that qualified for the IC4A/ECAC Championships and finished sixth with a time of 8:58.08 ... also took third in another 4x800 race at the Raleigh Relays.

full name is Shelasia Ebony Leitch...born on Feb. 19, 1996...nickname is Shelly...daughter of Mercia Durant...has one brother and four sisters...exercise science major at UMES...was a National Honor Society student at Weequahic H.S. while playing track...pre-game routine includes praying, reading quotes and of course, warming up...lists her coaches from high school as her biggest influences, because they helped shape her life...hopes for a career as an athletic trainer after graduation...favorite saying is "If you want to succeed as bad as you want to breathe, then you will be successful"...hopes to set a record in each and every event she competes in...lists family, friends and teamwork as what matters to her...
