Neema E. Connor, who has over 14 years of experience in Inter Collegiate Athletics, is in her 4th year as the Associate Director of Athletic for Compliance/Senior Woman Administrator at the University of Maryland Eastern Shore (UMES).

As the Associate Director of Athletics for Compliance, Connor is responsible for the development, implementation and management of an effective athletic compliance program including standard operating policies and procedures to ensure compliance with the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA), Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) and UMES.

Connor’s duties related to SWA include managing gender equality compliance and student athlete welfare and assisting the Director of Athletics with sport oversight for the 15 athletic programs offered at UMES. In addition, Connor serves as an advocate for important issues dealing directly with student athletes, coaches and staff. She also leads student athletes in successfully balancing academics, athletics and social responsibilities.

As a former Track & Field student-athlete for Essex County College and the University of Pittsburgh, Connor is a passionate supporter of athletics, devoting her time to educating, inspiring and motivating student athletes. Connor is consistently involved in initiatives aimed at transforming the experience of UMES’s 170 student athletes. 

Connor has served on many committees for the University, Community and MEAC to include, UMES Athletic Department Search Committee, UMES Data Reconciliation Taskforce Committee, UMES Food Services Review Committee, The Garyland Hayward Board of Directors, MEAC Executive Committee and the MEAC Basketball Tournament Committee. Currently, she is a member of the National Association of Collegiate Women in Athletics Administration (NACWAA), National Association of Collegiate Directors of Athletics (NACDA), National Association for Athletics Compliance (NAAC) and Minorities Opportunity Athletic Association (MOAA)

Connor holds a Associate Degree in Social Science from Essex County College (2001), Bachelor’s Degree in Administration of Justice from the University of Pittsburgh and Master’s Degree in Criminology and Criminal Justice from the University of Maryland Eastern Shore.

Connor was born in Georgetown, Guyana and currently resides in Princess Anne, MD with her husband Marcellus L. Connor III, and is the mother of Noah M. Connor and Marcellus R.P. Connor IV.
