Jasmine James (pictured) went 2-for-3 in three games for UMES this week

PRINCESS ANNE, Md. – Senior Jasmine James (Willingboro, N.J.) and sophomore Marcus Wallace (Winter Gardens, Fla.) have been name the Peninsula Regional Medical Center University of Maryland Eastern Shore Athletes of the Week for the week of April 29. This is the first time that either student-athlete has been distinguished with the award this year.

James receives the award after she was 7-for-15 with five RBI, one home run and four runs scored. She had three games on the week with two hits and made seven putouts with no errors. In UMES’ 6-1 win over Goldey-Beacom, James was 2-for-3 with two runs, two RBI and one double. She wrapped up the doubleheader with another 2-for-3 line. Although UMES opened with a 6-0 to Morgan St. on Saturday, she did manage to steal one base. The nightcap saw her go 2-for-3 with three RBI, two runs, one homer and two walks. She hit safely in the series finale as well.

Wallace collects the award after he was impressive at the Penn Relays this past week. He ran the anchor leg for two races for the men’s track and field team, including the team that placed second in the 4x200 IC4A race with a time of 1:25.13. He was the last leg for the 4x200 team that placed 13th with a time of 1:25.40, while also running the second leg of the UMES team that placed 10th in the Sprint Medley Championships of America with a finish of 3:22.87.
