The luncheon, held every year as part of Women's History Month and University Faculty and Staff Development activities, honored the six finalists for the award. Crystal Purnell from the Center for Access and Success was named the recipient of the award. All of the six finalists received a certificate presented by President Dr. Mortimer Neufville and a padfolio, compliments of Auxiliary Enterprises.

Rev. Carroll Fields of St. Andrews United Methodist Church in Upper Hill, Md. was the guest speaker, addressing the audience on topics of empowerment, the theme for the event this year.

"Nominations ranged from acknowledging single acts to consistently providing outstanding customer service," said Lisa Johnson, Assistant Director of Human Resources. Johnson, Dr. Nicholas Blanchard, Dean of the School of Pharmacy and Cheryll Collier-Mills, Assistant Vice-President Enrollment Management, made up the "Caught Doing Good" Committee.

Both Jones and Perez were nominated for the broad scope of their work, taking on extra tasks and going above and beyond their position.

"Both of these young people have had a huge impact on our department," said Director of Athletics Keith Davidson. "They both stepped up, they are team players who see the importance in what we do, they see things that need to be done and do them, they care about our student-athletes and they help them succeed."
