PRINCESS ANNE, Md. – Senior Anggie Ramirez (Bogota, Colombia) and freshman Will Turley (Greensboro, Md.) have been name the Peninsula Regional Medical Center University of Maryland Eastern Shore Athletes of the Week for the week of March 18. This is the third time this year that Ramirez has been recognized with the award, while Turley collects the distinction for the first time.

Turley collects the award after he picked up his first collegiate win in UMES’ 3-0 win over Coppin State this past weekend. The freshman was fantastic on the mound as he fanned three and allowed eight hits in six innings of shutout ball. His outing lowered his ERA to a 1.04 as he has logged quality starts in each of his first two collegiate starts.

Ramirez was honored with the award for the third time this season after she earned All-Tournament Team honors with a third-place finish at the Columbia 300 Music City Classic. She knocked down 1,346 pins across six games with an average of 224.3. Ramirez bowled five-of-six games over 200, including a tournament-high of 258 against Nebraska. It was her effort that guided the Hawks to the top placing at the event, which is the ninth event won by UMES this year.
