PRINCESS ANNE, Md. - The University of Maryland Eastern Shore athletic program is pleased to announce that its tenth featured Hall of Fame member to be spotlighted in 50 Shades of Maroon and Gray is James “Squeakie” Lesane. The spotlight on Lesane continues UMES' countdown to the 2014 Hall of Fame induction on Feb. 14. He is the tenth of 50 Hall of Fame members to be highlighted in this segment.

Lesane stands as one of the best wide receivers to ever play at UMES. The Baltimore, Md., native compiled 99 career receptions for a total of 1,450 yards. He also amassed 15 receiving touchdowns and averaged 14.6 yards-per-catch during his time at UMES. Lesane was inducted into the UMES Hall of Fame in 2004.

His best season was in 1977, when he led the team in receiving with 32 catches for 466 yards and five touchdowns. In that season alone, Lesane averaged 14.6 yards-per-catch. His career numbers stand among the best in MEAC history and he still is listed in many of the MEAC all-time records.
